Benita Chaplin spent 29 years with the Sedgwick County District Court, 14 of those years in a managerial position. She served her final 4 years as the District Court Clerk Specialist for the Office of Judicial Administration. Benita retired from the Kansas Judicial Branch after 33 years of service. During her tenure she oversaw the daily functions of the family law, juvenile, civil, records, and small claims departments. She was also instrumental in the development of implemented training programs. Benita has always had a passion for helping children and families in need. Over the years, while being active in her church and community youth ministries, she welcomed into her home children in need. After retiring and devoting her free time to her grandchildren, Benita had a vision to provide a helping hand to children in the community lacking basic necessities. From that vision came The T.O.U.C.H Closet, Inc.
Sarah Demby has worked for HCA Wesley Healthcare for 30 years in the Pathology Department. She worked 18 years in the Phlebotomy area, as a phlebotomist then as a Sr. Phlebotomist. She had a lot of interaction with all other hospital departments ensuring patients’ lab work was collected and processed in a timely manner. This aided with the diagnosis and treatment plan for the patient. She was also a trainer for infant blood collections. For the past 12 years Sarah has worked in the Pathology Office, helping the Doctors make an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan for the patient. Sarah has been married for 32 years with 3 sons and 6 grandchildren. She is active in her Church (Restoration Ministries) as a Greeter, Secretary for the Women’s Ministry (Ladies S.H.A.R.P.), Word Enrichment Center (bookstore), and is the Membership Services Coordinator. She also helps with a homeless outreach ministry. Sarah’s big heart, and willingness to help ANYONE in need, stems from her childhood home being a refuge for many. She has opened her home to family and friends who needed a place to stay.

Jessica Ward currently works at HCA Wesley Healthcare in the Pathology Department and recently married Brandon Ward in September 2019. She grew up in southern Kansas with her mother and brother, where her mother was a foster parent for teenage girls. It was during this time that Jessica learned about the hardships some face and became passionate about helping others in any way she could. After high school she traveled a lot, living in several different cities including Baku, Azerbaijan where she volunteered in an English language school. Travelling is one of her biggest passions and meeting new people and learning about their culture (and their food!) is a big reason why. In 2016 she moved back home to start her life with Brandon and now lives in Wichita with their 2 dogs. After having met people from all walks of life she knows her blessings are ones to be shared and is excited to be a part of an organization that is making a difference in her community every day.
